the color they give u in the box if i didnt want to use that particular color can i add my own and if so does it have to be exactly the same type???

Yes, you can use any color you choose but it should be the same type of paint (latex, oil bases, etc.) I just used two shades of turquois latex on my living room walls. The lighter shade for the base, and the darker shade for the 'marble'. Came out great and goes well with brown tweed carpeting & brass fixtures! Have fun with it and good luck!

I would think you could use any color you'd like as long as it's the same type of paint (i.e. latex or oil) as what they supplied.
To be on the safe side, I'd ask at a paint store.
