Why do they describe all these symptoms, and sit and "wonder" why they are pregnant, and not just take a test? Seems silly to me.

Because talking about something is a cathartic experience. Women tend to like to share their problems to feel better. Some people also need to be encouraged to do something. Remember that a lot of girls who ask such questions are often young so they might not know if those symptoms can be attributed to something else. They are afraid of the answer so they don't take the test. They prefer to learn the truth slowly. By other girls who will be sympathetic (above all if they can't talk to their parents about it).

When you think you might be but are not sure it consumes you, especially if you are trying. For instance, my period is late by 2 days. I thought I might be so I took a test 3 days ago. It came out negative but still no period. So here I am wondering, am I or am I not? We know only a test would tell us for sure but it's fun to see what other people think. Hence, the reason for the very existence of Yahoo! Answers.

Sometimes it's too early to tell if you are or not. Some people are really sure if they won't to know the answer to are they pregnant or not, until it's here. Some people want to be so bad, they think they have symptoms of being pregnant, but are afraid to check because the answer maybe no.

Some people are on tight budgets.
Sometimes the tests are not accurate, as in false negatives.
Sometimes there is more than one possible reason for a delayed period.
With an event this life changing, every minute is an hour. This passes the time.

Sometimes you have to wait to take a test.

When you are trying so hard to have a baby (or sometimes not to have one and are freaking out), you want to believe (or are terrified) each month that it is happening. When you ovulate you still have to wait like 10-14 days to take a test, sometimes even longer...it's like forever. So it's nice sometimes to bounce it off people for their feedback, even though nobody will know for sure until you take that test.

Then if it's negative and you want to be pregnant, you have to start all over and wait another month to find out. It's an emotionally draining process really.
