Nostalgia bug bit and I've been obsessing over this song for weeks. I've tried googling it using different combinations of key words but no luck. You guys are my last hope. Okay, here's some clues to work with:
1) heard it playing in the radio sometime in the early to mid 1980s; around the timeframe of madonna's 'borderline', eurythmics' 'sweet dreams'
2) all instrumental, no vocals; lots of flutes as the dominant instrument
3) it's the type of music suitable for bellydancing; has an arabic, egyptian or middle-eastern flavor to it
4) kinda has the feel of shakira's 'ojos asi' but the beat is a little slower

Thanks for your help.

Hmm. Maybe it was not Madonna!
Don't worry, it has happened to me! I spent 10 years before I knew the titles of Lovefool by the Cardigans and Don't Tell Me, by Madona.
Hey, maybe that's the song! If you're sure it's Madonna, you could enter Yahoo! Music, type Madonna in the space next to "Search Music" Then you'll see a list of videos, songs, albums, etc. Most of them have years next to them. Uhmm... those are the years when they were played, obviously,
If you don't have a yahoo! music / mail account, get one now!! They're free, easy to get and not half as confusing as hotmail.
I'll help you if you want, just pick me as the best answer =D

Could it be "Jethro Tull", which technically is "hard rock" or has even been described as Heavy Metal Or is it, "The Art of Noise", they did a song called "Peter Gunn", which was all instrumental, and they were big around this time.
