The christian crusaders murdered, raped, tortured, practiced cannibalism when they couldn't find food, and that was only what they did to other christians such as the Magyars.
Conversely, the Moors had a civilized and literate society (as most Arab societies were before the 20th century), and contrary to lies told by christians, Saladin and his people did not torture prisoners. They fed and housed them.
If anyone should have been crusading and spreading their ideas, it should have been the Moors. The trouble is, they were not imperialists, they were educated people.

The Crusades are a hotly contested historical topic, widely mistreated by many and misinterpreted in the context of social, religious, or revisionist agendas. Two full centuries passed between the first crusade and the last. Their influence has permeated Western culture.
I think any kind of simplistic treatment can be damaging. Serious scholarship is necessary. Try to avoid Hollywood interpretations like _Kingdom of Heaven_ which inaccurately superimpose a fashionable pseudo-ecumenical attitude over everything.
I recommend _Infidels: a History of the Conflict Between Christendom and Islam_, by Andrew Wheatcroft. For briefer answers, you could try the Wikipedia entry.

Depends on what you consider good and bad. On one hand it did introduce a prodomint religion (Catholoithism) which lead to other Christain Religions. Without the crusade the world may have fallen more toward islam.... This is the main example of the two world we divided. Would our lives be better now if the crusade did not exist?

Putting in a crudely way...The Crusades were just an excuse to conquest The Moor's territory ( Africa).
Nowadays we can see what zeal's for religious truth, the salvation of souls, and the extirpation of heresy is doing for the Humanity...No Good at all!
The same can be said about the Crusades...
Meaningless, Pointless and a complete waist of lives...

the crusades did more good than bad. they were wars of people's beliefs and basically they dealt with religious journeys and fights to obtain a different religion other than that of which is already well known. the only bad was at times the burning of homes and churches.

It was never for God sake. It was evil to began with. The crusaders even killed Christian along the way for money and women, and weaken Constantinepole. That was the city that host them while they were on their way to war.
Christian? If they are, probably they were not well taught on the word of God, to love your enemy.
