There are several possible causes for antifreeze in the oil.
1. Blown head gasket.
2. Cracked head
3. Cracked block
4. Cracked intake manifold.
Your mechanic may have been right in the first place, but by the time you had it fixed the damage had already been done to the engine. The engine will need to be torn down and inspected by an independant mechanic to determine the exact cause.

I would definitely get some second opinions, could be a scam. If your mechanic is at fault, his business should pay for it. I don't understand how he could have gotten antifreeze in the oil, but if he did, did he also run the engine while it had the bad oil mixture? If not I don't think u need it replaced...just need a full fluid system flush.

Antifreeze in the oil is a CLASSIC symptom of a blown head gasket. If the mechanic didn't replace it he screwed the pooch.

The 3.1 or 3.4 gm v6's are notorious for intake gasket leaks..... hardly ever hear of head gaskets unless overheated....
He should have, and the engine is almost toast..... what you have is either a spun bearing or a rod knocking and is about to go. Gm has just now fixed this with a new gasket design...... so has felpro..... it was a bad gasket design, and coolant (dexcool) that didn't agree with the materials.

you should immediatley have had the head off, xrayed.milled flat, and a new gasket fitted.u can tell if the gasket is leaking by seeing if there is a white deposit on the oil filler cap.I believe all cars with a computer should have been destroyed at birth. My old 86 toyota corolla is still going fine and has had no repairs in it's lifetime. The present corolla, are just as good.

I agree that the mechanic is at fault. He should have replaced the head gasket.
