You might. You might get less. A baby who is given food that he can't digest *may* sleep longer because he feels full and not get the nutrition that he needs for growth. But it certainly isn't in his best interest!! And it *may* not work at all. In addition, it increases his risk of developing allergies or asthma (both of which can be life-threatening). In either case, it is not good for him.

Ok, i know this one from experience. Your baby will start sleeping more when he is ready. If it seems like he just isn't getting full, then try putting about a tablespoon of cereal in his bottle. No, it won't clog up the nipple if you shake the bottle and mix it right. I had to do this with my daughter. At two months old, she was guzzling an entire 8 ounce bottle and was still hungry. Her pediatrician said it was PERFECTLY SAFE to put a little bit of cereal in her bottle. You'd be surprised at the difference it makes. Though, do not be discouraged if your baby still doesn't sleep more. Your baby will adjust soon enough. And yes, your baby will still move his bowels when given cereal. Until 4 months, do NOT spoon-feed your baby cereal. I also do not recommend oatmeal cereal in his bottle. My daughter had an allergic reaction to that. Rice cereal is best. And 5-6 months is when your baby should start solid food, like carrots, peas, things like that. I shouldn't have to tell you this means the baby food jars, not actual pieces of carrot. Good luck with your new baby, congratulations, and enjoy! Trust me when i say you probably won't get as much sleep as you want for quite some time, but things will definitely get easier. Just hang in there.

No. Research shows that babies do not sleep any longer with cereal in their bottles, despite the common belief to the contrary. Solid foods, including cereal, are no longer recommended until between 4 and 6 months. Cereal is sometimes recommended in the bottle for younger babies if they have a problem with reflux (more than average "spitting up". ) However, this solution is not helping my refluxy four month old.
Consult your pediatrician about the problem, or there are books and Videos avail. at the library about how to help your baby sleep though the night. You did not say what age your baby is but it sounds like you may be making the same mistake I made with my first, which was to keep her up as late as possible for her last bottle, hoping she would then sleep through.
Apparently, this just makes the babies over-tired and they sleep more poorly. A fairly early and structured bedtime routine and bedtime is recommended.
"Sleep when the baby sleeps" is a good piece of advice and that means giving yourself naps during baby's nap time. Of course, if you're anything like me, you'll have so much you want to get done during that time, or you desperately desire "me" time and you end up missing the sleep you need and are cranky and less functional in the morning...
It's tough. Let me know if anything works for you. I could use some help myself!

My son has been on rice cereal in his bottle since he was 3 weeks old and his bowls move great and the entire family sleeps. He's 3 months old now and still sleeps through the night. I was told to add 1 tablespoon of cereal to every 2 ounces of formula or breast milk. My son now takes a 7 1/2 ounce bottle with 3 1/2 tablespoons of rice cereal in his bottle. Remember to buy the nipples made for cereal. Dr. Brown bottles and AVENT bottles both make nipples just for cereal. We do just fine and in the beginning I too was nervous about doing it, but you will never know if it works until you give it a try... I hope it works for you. Good Luck!

Every baby is different but you will get more sleep if he has a bottle at 10:30 he will probably want more in 3-4 hours later but the more bottle with cereal you give the more he'll sleep but don't over do it. The baby bowel movements will probably be a little more often and more smellier.

While stuffing baby with a glob of cereal before bedtime seldom works, it may be worth a try. A tablespoon or two given to a baby over six months of age may get you an extra hour or two. Tiny babies have tiny tummies, a bit bigger than the size of their fist. So, your baby's digestive system was designed for small, frequent feedings, which is why, in the early months, babies feed at least every 3 to 4 hours at night and more often during the day.

Screw research. The cereal thing works. Just keep it thin enough for it to flow through the nipple. you may have to make the nipple whole a little bigger with a hot straight pin. If his bowels seem to get too stiff, try a little of the dark KARO brand syrup, about a teaspoon or so in his bottle, maybe 3 or 4 times in a row until he goes.

depending on the age of your baby a little cearal is fine at bed time. Most babies sleep for one or two hours at a time. if you try to keep your baby up longer at night your baby will sleep longer. Always sleep when your baby sleeps.
