Really rare. It's nothing to really be afraid of only if you have a cut on you. If you have a cut I would storngly recommend staying out of the ocean for both your own and the public's safety since blood can attract sharks from miles away. This is why shark fishers dump blood and guts in the water when they're fishing for sharks.

Very little. The gulf of Mexico is considered warm waters compared to the rest of the bodies of water in the world. Sharks can only live in water colder than the Gulf of Mexico.
