I am taking my friend on vacation. Want to spend $1000 or less on flight and hotel. She wants to go to Cozumel. But we have been offered a suite in the french quarters of New Orleans for free.
Both have had problems and both want the tourists. Which is the better place to go at that time of summer?

Both these places sound like fun but I would consider the hurricane factor and go to vegas! There are some good deals right now

I absolutely love New Orleans. I even got married there, but in August it is going to be extremely hot and humid. I'd go to New Orleans when it was a little cooler.

I also love Cozumel. Go to an all inclusive and get all your food and drinks included. Cozumel has the most beautiful clear water. You don't even need to snorkel to see bright colorful fish in the water. If you don't want to go all inclusive, food and drink are cheap. It'll be hot there too, but just lay on the beach and relax. There's usually always a gently breeze.

I think New Orleans would be great. I lived in Biloxi for 8 years and drove to the quarters alot. It is so much fun. And if your being offered a suite for free, Take advantage of it. You will enjoy yourself. Those people know how to party!!!! Just make sure you check the weather befroe you go out there.

Nawlins, f'sure. Great city, safe and excellent food, parties galore and the speak a form of English. Cozumel.....dull, food is eh-eh and you have to go to Cancun for real partying. NOLA is great...hot and humid, but the Quarter is untouched by Katrina!!!
