I have a C class '94 and its wiper is slightly out of position (it rests slightly higher than where it's supposed to). The wiper does wipe the entire surface of the windshield (does the half-moon fine) but when it's turned off, it doesn't go fully down. When the engine is off I can push it back down but it jumps back up upon starting up the car. One more thing to add is that, the blade is slightly longer than usual and someone actually told me that's the reason why. But it just doesn't make sense since, like I said, the wiper does the half-moon wiping alright... I think maybe the microcontroller controlling the wiper needs to be reprogrammed. No clue.

I wonder if there's a way I could manually fix this myslef.

There's a park position adjustment on the wiper linkage. Also, it needs to be lubricated periodically.

I had the same problem and took it to the dealer to get an estimate. They made the adjustment and lubed the mechanism without any charge.

MB customer service is second to none!

Check and see if the wiper arm is removeable form "transferbox" (also referred to as a transmission). Am not farmiliar with this new a car, but the older ones all have a multi splined "stub" that the wiper arm fits on, and it is probably off just one "notch" or so. The part has about 30-50 small serrations that the arm connects(plugs) onto. So it could be set anywhere you wanted (although the results might not be satisfactory! If you have a manual available, it will tell you how to remove the wiper arm from car!

I can tell you that having changed a wiper-motor on a C220 it is a bastard of a job. These motors fail very regularly, yours is just one more example I have heard of. You need to get a workshop manual, there is no way I could explain it here, let alone to say it's a horrendous job.
