There are actually 3 types of twins: Fraternal, Identical and Polar Body.

Fraternal or dizygotic twins come from two different eggs that are each fertilized by a different sperm.

Identical or monozygotic twins happen when one egg is fertilized by one sperm and then the egg splits into two.

Polar Body or "half" twins occur when one non-fertlized egg splits and then each half is fertilized by a different sperm.

Now, to make it even more complex, some Identical twins split earlier and some split later. If the twins split earlier, they may have different placenta or share the same placenta. Only Identical twins CAN share the same placenta. Identical twins who share the same placenta tend to be more "identical" than twins who didn't, as the twins who shared the same placenta had a more similar experience in the womb than those who didn't.

Okay, now about race. I'll use an example. A woman with olive skin who has European hair and European facial features has a baby with a man with paler skin (Say light with a brown under tone) but who has hair that's more African than European and the man has African facial features.

The woman delivers fraternal twins. One twin gets her hair and her facial features but her husbands paler skin. One twin gets her mate's facial features and hair type but her skin tone. Most people would say that one twin looks white and one twin looks black.

That's really simplifying the process of how are genes determine our looks, btw, but you get the point.

Yes, I am a twin myself but we are IDENTICAL.

Identical twins are from the same egg and share identical genetic information so their skin colors are also the same! On the other hand FRATERNAL twins are from either two eggs or one egg fertilized with two sperms so they can have very different genetic characteristics!

AT the time of delivery the OB/GYN doctor can by examining the placenta determine which kind of twin pregnancy it was.

I am an engineer so i only know this much. More info can be found in a Genetics-101 textbook.

Its definately possible. One of the parents don't even have to be black or vice versa. We all have recessive genes in us. Somewhere down the family line you could have had a black or white family member. Those genes will always follow from parent to child, even if they don't show. For instance, you could be white and had a black great great great grandfather. If one of those recessive genes pokes it's head out, you could potentially have a black baby, or as you asked, one white and one black baby (they would have to be paternal twins though). Hope that helps!
Cheers!

Anything is possible

yes. if they are fraternal twins.... (the kind that are not identical) That's because there are two separate eggs with two separate genetic make ups... so two separate sperm had to fertilize the eggs. Therefore both babies will look different and inherit different traits from its parents. If one parent is white and one black, its possible.

Yes, if they are fraternal twins. But it's more likely they will both be slightly lighter skinned than their black parent, as the black genes tend to be dominant.

Yeah it is if the woman and man are two different races or the woman is sleepin around with one black man and one white man then the twins could have two different fathers and be two different colors....

Yes. Just like the other person stated. You have to have one of each and then the twins have to be fraternal (two seperate eggs, two sperm, two aniotic sacs)
