Hi Numptie. Football, (not soccer) is a mans game. Long ago, people used to gather in the streets and kick a pig's bladder. Now we kick the whole policeman! Only joking.

You are obviously not an Englishman. We appreciate a good game and as a true Englishman, I expect England to come home with the Cup!

It's 90 minutes plus injury time, not 20 hours of bloody boring Super Bowl or whatever you call it.

Get a life.

Losers? Don't the players make vast sums of money and share it with all the people you're talking about? Surely that's why they always refer to themselves and the teams they support as WE and the achievements of the teams as OUR? Otherwise there's no reason at all to make that association except primative tribal mentallity.

I note several answers assume the questioner is American. FYI Hardly any Americans would know what numpties were and besides the English invented the term "soccer".

back in the middle ages, the equivalent of a a football game was a good old fashioned battle, you know, knights in armour, wielding swords, blood everywhere, that kind of thing, so you go watch the fight for an afternoons entertainment, but nowhere days, society pacification has led to the demise of the blood sports ( ancient Rome had it royal!!) so all chavs have to focus their lust for competition & voilence some where else, if not on the pitch, then off it , with drunken brawl down the local!

personaly I'd rather a ball in the face than a sword in the never regions anyday,

if your talking about football, for some people its not just something to talk about or watch when you have got nothing else to do. For some people a football team is the identity of where they come from, and their success will put their area on the map. The same reason people enjoy watching rugby or tennis or snooker is the reason people love football. I have followed my football team all around the country for 6 years now because i love the sport and i love my team that i support - which is the same reason as all other football fans.

If you are referring to football then its like any other sport and people who enjoy it go to watch and support the games. Personally I think the world cup is a good thing because it brings people together and we can show our pride for our teams and countries. Its not a losers game because football is the biggest sport in the world and I hope England win!

Haha, are you slow in the head? Football (soccer) is THE game. Not only is it a game, but it's a languag that allows you to communicate anywhere in the world! You don't have to know anything else. It requires little equipment, little time and a good heart to play. Stupid.
