Do you take off your shoes when you are home?

I have been taking off my shoes whenever I come home cuz I'm sick of cleaning the floor. I noticed that when I wear my shoes, the floor gets dirty faster than if I just wore socks. Now I cant even stand wearing shoes when I'm at work! Do you ever take off your shoes at home?

The real question here is do I EVER wear shoes!!! :o) I grew up in Singapore where it was kosher to take your shoes off at the door of yours and others homes. It is considered impolite over there to leave them on for the same reason that you stopped wearing them, it makes the floor dirty.

Now, I can't stand wearing shoes anywhere! I never wear them at home or at friend's houses. When I'm at school or some other public place I'll wear them until I'm sitting down and then I take them off. Of course, that's much easier for me to do since I'm a girl and I can wear heels and just slip them off. Guys have to unlace their shoes and then take socks off too, so it's much more of a hassle!!

I get to go without shoes just about all the time. I hardly ever wear them at home, and I work as a nanny so its standard to take off your shoes in those immaculate homes I work in. I do wear shoes when shopping, dining out, or taking the kids for a walk to the park, but that's about it. Even when I go out to the car or in the backyard for something I go out barefoot, even if its raining. I'll take off my socks rather than put on shoes to keep from getting wet socks.

I even drove barefoot one time. That was really weird.

Yes, always. This is a smart thing to do since you don't track dirt around the house. It keeps everything clean and your carpet (if you have carpeting) will last longer. This is common especially in the Asian culture.

If you feel like you need to wear something, you can use "at home" slippers. As for at work, I would never take off my shoes there.

It was drilled into me as a kid to take off my shoes at the side door, so it's ingrained. 9 times out of 10, I take my socks off within 5 minutes of getting home too (unless the apartment is too cold), for comfort and because my socks usually smell worse than my barefeet, lol.

we do also. I feel the same way you do. I even do it when I visit with friends. sometimes when I go out, I have to make sure I have my shoes on, or I would forget and go outside without my shoes.
