No. However, gasoline prices effect my average speed. As prices rise, I decrease my average speed to increase my miles per gallon. By driving 58 mph on the freeway in a 60 mph speed limit area, I have added two days to my normal time between fill ups. Slow down and save some gas. Air-conditioner use in a modern car usually does not effect mpg since only a few parts are not running when it is off. Wind resistance when the windows are down also does not decrease mpg, nor does it increase it. MPG is mainly related to RPMs.

Hasn't changed anything. Many modern vehicles will actually get better mileage on the highway with the windows up and the AC on. The increase in drag from the open windows is greater than the load placed by the AC compressor. Even if it is slightly worse, running the AC reduces driver fatigue significantly.

I have slowed down a bit, though. My '06 Fusion gets about 25 MPG at 75 but about 33 MPG at 60 and 37MPG at 55. That's the best way to improve fuel economy; just ease off the gas a bit.

instantly answer to a humorous question... indirectly. Yor motor vehicle engine'scontinual belt turns a compressor that if truth be told runs your air conditioner. an electric powered motor turns the compressor on your position A/C. to amplify your question, your motor vehicle makes use of more effective gasoline once you run your air conditioner...yet no longer all that a lot. Your A/C motives a touch more effective drag on your engine (more effective on a smaller engine than a larger one). So, in an oblique way, it does take gasoline to run your motor vehicle A/C !
