Like they would stop if they were asked. This is a civil war. I guess you mean why doesn't the UN intervene or some other country get involved to stop the killing going on. Nobody asks a legitimate goverment to stop defending itself against internal enemies. I am sure that Tamils have their grievances and I am sure that at least in some ways they are right, but they took up arms against the establishment and they have to expect these consequences.

You are wrong on that. There is right now a Norwegian peace envoy that tries to make an agreement. There were talks held in Switzerland and Thailand.

In the past the UN has steped in and other governments. The thing is that both of them should stop and not just the one.

Possibly because the Tamils started killing Sinhalese people first and most people think they are getting what they deserve.
