The Exploratorium is a hands-on museum of science, art, and human perception located at the Palace of Fine Arts (3601 Lyon Street). Kids from all over the Bay Area go there yearly with their schools from the age of Kindergarten through High School. Bring a picnic lunch and eat in the surrounding area.
The Hiller Aviation Museum located at 601 Skyway Road in San Carlos (just south of SF-650.654.0200) is the largest indoor aviation museum in California. They have ongoing events.
If you're into racing or have never even tried it before, GoKart Racer is an indoor track located in Burlingame at 1541 Adrian Rd. (650.692.7223) and is great for the whole family providing everyone has a valid drivers license (you didn't mention how old the "teens" were) They have 3 different tracks to chose from with all the safety equipment (suits/helmets)provided.
If racing is still something the family would enjoy and the kids don't have their licenses yet, Malibu Grand Prix in Redwood City (340 Blomquist St. Redwood City,650.366.6463) is the place to go. They're located right off of Highway 101 and always have "specials." Check their website for more info.
While at Malibu you can walk across the parking lot to the Castle and try your hand at mini golf, bumper boats, turbo go karts or batting cages. They also have an arcade and food available. (cardboard pizza!)The Castle is located right across the parking lot from Malibu at 320 Blomquist St. Redwood City-650. 367.1906)
If horseback riding is something you'd like to try then head over to the Half Moon Bay area to Sea Horse Ranch&Friendly Acres Horses. You can reach them at 650.726.9903. They offer beach or guided trail rides for all levels of riders from beginners to more advanced riders.
If you want to venture further south to the San Jose area, the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum & Planetarium (located at 1342 Naglee Ave in San Jose) is a very different place to see. Their current exhibit is about Leonardo DaVinci, though there are MANY other things to see and do there. Once again, it's a favorite spot for school field trip for kids from Jr High- High School. The Planetarium show is always a hit with kids and adults alike and is free with admission to the museum. Make sure the kids bring their Student ID cards for an additional discount.
I hope some of this has been helpful.. There's sooo very many things to do in this area that I could write a book, instead I think I'll just go out and enjoy this awesome weather we're having!

how about the jelly belly factory? it's in fairfield, ca. from where i'm at in pinole, ca, it's about a 20 min drive. it's enjoyable for the whole family, and it's free all day! they even give you a free sample at the end. and there's the coolest gift shop there with all of thier flavors and every other confection that they other which is alot.
hope that was a help!
p.s. i just thought about something, duh! !! have you and your family been to the metreon? it's so much to do there. it's three floors. and did i mention the playstation store.?, your teens can play all the hottest games for free. there's a imax theatre there, and an arcade, soiny store, and alot more then that. the game that i love to play at the arcade, which is on the second floor, is hyperbowl. it's the best game, you bowl thru places like san francisco, tokyo, a pirate ship, and many more places.

You can take the ferry to Angel Island. There are great nature walks, some historic sites like the internment camps for the people coming from the orient, and there are great picnic spots. You can have your lunch while enjoying the million dollar view.
