why are the fans not coming on in the car. they are dual fans and i know its not a thermostat sensor or relay switches. i replaced all of them. what else can it be?

the air is not cold and will not get cold either and if i leave the car idleing, it will get too hot, like up to 240 and rising til i turn it off.

FOR GARFIELD... on the grand am, when you said check to see if i can put power directily to the fans, do i just use any wire? what kind of wire?copper? and when i put it to the battery do i put it on the positive or negative post? and when i do that, do i touch the fan first or the battery with the wire?

The primary cooling fan is controlled by the coolant temperature sensor. This fan should kick on around 210-220 degrees. You may have a bad sensor?

The secondary fan is controlled by a pressure activated switch in the A/C system. If your A/C system is low on refrigerant, the fan will not kick in and as you have noticed, you won't have cold air.

Another thing to check is your coolant level. Newer cars seem to be very dependant on correct coolant levels.

Can you put 12 volt power directly to the fans somehow? That would tell you if the fans are actually capable of turning. If they are, then I am at a loss as how to counsel you further.

Relay is controlled directly by the computer (ECM). That could be causing your problem. They used to get moisture on the plug and it would corrode the contacts. Located on the pass side...some on the kick panel, some under the glove box.

ck to see if you have power going to them with the a/c on max (thefans)should only be one of em--with power not ck fuses in car and in the distribution box under the hood--cooling fan wont come on till around 212deg
