When I hold down the play button it is meant to turn off but it won't. It is only 3 days old.

No, but I've had problems with mine turning on. You may have to take it back tot where you got it if it doesn't work. Just leave it alone for awhile and see if that works. That happened to me once..after I left it alone..it started working.
Hopefully you still know where the receipt is just in case.

nope ive had mine for 6 months...you could take it to an apple store and if they cant fix it they will give you the newest ipod they have....
