My father was a trooper for some time (20yrs) and I was visiting he and mom on leave from the Navy a number of years back and was invited to ride with him for awhile one afternoon to catchup on our guy talk---on the freeway when a car comes from behind over the overpass we had just come over --zoomba----------- super fast --Dad slams down on it and the chase was on--speeds well in excess of 100 mph --dad called for backup --other patrol vehicles joined in --some from the opposite direction--spikes were laid out and after some 20 minutes the dude hit the spikes lost all his tires and control--he had reduced speed somewhat before he hit but it still wiped him out--severe injuriies--to the hospital---found out later that he had just beat the holy_______out of his wife and the neighbors had called the cops and that was what he was running from---my only such experience and one I wouldn't care to repeat SCARED THE EVERLIVING OUT OF ME--I don't think I breathed an easy breath for two weeks afterward

It is no laughing matter. Police chases are very dangerous. The criminals the police are chasing endanger the lives of themselves and everyone alse on the road when they make the decision to run. 99.9% of the criminals who run are caught. I have been involved in several myself, not as a criminal or a Police Officer, but as a Paramdeic picking up the pieces of what's left after these people run.

Back in my wild days, before I got married, I was in the backseat and we ran from the police. It was crazy! If the guy driving wouldn't have known where he was going we'd have all went to jail. I didn't know an old beat up car could do 120.

nope, and in most states if the officers siren fails or quits the officer must quit the pursuit even if his lights still work, the vehicle must have the audio warning. In a chase like you are talking about all cars would be running sirens

going down the 101 from SB to Ventura i seen a cloud of smoke and dust. being a trained EMT i stopped in the center lane at the sight of the accident. no accident, the 15 cop/highway patrol cars pulled in behind the "land rover" everyone jumped out guns drawn, pointing at him and me! i freaked! jumped back in my jeep and got the he*l out of there.
