What should I do if I like someone and they're my friend but in the middle of divorce?

My friend was married, but his wife cheated on him and left him for someone else. He's a great guy, he's my type but we are just friends. How long should I wait to tell him how I feel. He's been seperated for almost 4 months now.

I would just stay friends for a bit longer. Divorce is a tramatic experience to begin with, and with his wife cheating on him too, makes it all the harder.
He is basically an emotional basketcase, still.
Just be there when he needs you, be his friend. It will take time, but I'm sure as his friend, you will know when he is ready to move on with his life.
I'm sure he will appreciate you being there for him, during this time. But you should be forewarned, although your feelings for him have changed, it doesn't mean his will too.
It's often a big jump to go from friend to lover. So stand by him, be his friend, and who knows, nature might just take you on the course you want to go.
