Why do people go through so much to LOOK good. Why are plastic surgeries on the rise?? Why are makeup industries and fashion industries booming?? Why do people obsess about their looks more than their values??

The bigger question being, what drives our desire for physical perfection?

My personal idea is this: I think appearance has great masking abilities. People have flaws in their personalities, and this is an inevitable reality. However, looks can be altered a lot easier than your habits or values..etc...When these things are altered for the "better" they make you look like a more "put together" person. Since we all know that first impressions create and impact we strive to create not a better person, but a better mask...

"Visual creatures." Right. We're also cerebral creatures who are able to make judgements about another human being through their actions. Anyway, I think it's media based -- what we're told we're supposed to look like, etc. And with the media setting the standard we become competitive. I mean, you may be on to something. It could be a way to mask our character flaws. But that's only the tip of ice berg. Besides, having people hate the way they look keeps the economy from collapsing.

What else is there ? Our social values suck, our religion gives us no real moral compass anymore, and we have to have some way to discriminate against each other. Appearances seem to be the easiest way to make a value judgment about one's worth. Not much effort involved just to say "you ugly, I hate you." Don't even have to talk to 'em.

2_what proof is there for this statement{people obsess about their looks ,do not notice to value}?in fact i think people who care LOOK good ,are more concern about their values.

3_physical perfection is a value.in fact all aspects of perfection are value.
4_ mask is not lie.you represent your idea, your innovation. your mental events by mask.honestly.
people represent their ideals bye mask.it is a positive approach.
there is negative kind of mask.it is uniformity.uniformity is a lie.
..media just follow people desire.

It's an art. Just like creating music, just like creating a canvas, The human being is an art, and it is best when it looks beautiful, both inside and out.

Because we are 1st and foremost visual creatures... They say we form an opinion about a person before they even open their mouth. The words only confirm what we thought or make us to adjust, but not entirely reform...

No. If that were the case, where the heck does pain come from? If our physical existence is imagined AT ALL, pain NEVER would have arisen. Furthermore, imagination is a product; an effect. What produces it? What is the cause?

It's neither! It's acceptance. People want to appear perfect so that others will accept and like them.
