Metal is still alive and well.

As for my favourite song, I'd have to say "Run to the Hills" by Iron Maiden. In fact, pretty much anything by Maiden. Or Sabbath. Or AC/DC. Or Disturbed. In fact, pretty well any metal is good metal.

Well I guess if u consider RUSH heavy metal, like most critics do, then Closer to the Heart from Different Stages Live is the best song.

If not RUSH, what about Creed? I would have to say then that What If is the best song.

If not Creed, then Shinedown? Save Me would be the best song then.

If not Shinedown, then Nickelback. Never Again would then be the best.

If u don't consider any of these heavy metal then I'm sry for wasting time, lol

I thought metal was pretty much dead. I used to like Whitecross, Stryper, & Shout in the Christian metal realm. (Yes there was Christian metal.) Before them, I liked Van Halen, Scorpions, Night Ranger, and a few others. I used to love Ted Nugent. He was kind of heavy metal.

unlike most people that "claim to be metalheads" because they listen to def leppard or ac/dc. that doesnt qualify if they at least dont listen to some modern stuff. here are my fav current metal bands.
Children of bodom
In Flames
Wintersun
Ensiferum
Dimmu Borgir
Hammerfall
Edguy
Arch Enemy
As I lay dying
Dark Tranquility

thes are my fav classic bands

Mettallica
Black Sabbath
Dio
guns n roses
Led Zepplin
Alice Cooper

I like the modern stuff alot better though

my fav song is pretty tough to name but if it came down to it id have to say "living dead beat" by children of bodom
