I have answered several questions on answers using sarcasm, and in my opinion they were not serious or life threating questions or I would have treated them that way, but people and not always the writer, have emailed me and complained that I was rude, and just recently someone chose me as best answer becuase my answer did not pacify her ego.
ARE PEOPLE OVERREACTING TO THIS ARE SHOULD I TONE IT DOWN? I don't mean any harm.

The ability to recognize sarcasm is a sign of intelligence. Some people don't understand it. And, especially without tone of voice and body movements, written sarcasm is a difficult thing to master. I've written some sarcastic comments that offended people, and when I try to read back as if I were them, sometimes I do sound rude. Other times, they just didn't get it. I wouldn't stress about it. It's pretty difficult to get upset over what anyone here thinks of me anyway. Answering all these questions and self proclaimed geniuses, we will always have someone who disagrees with our point of view.

Because when someone reads another's "type"...it does not convey the facial expressions and/or voicetones that come along with a spoken answer. I like sarcasm and have used it regularly (as a coping skill, of course) so I get a lot of the sarcasm that I read. Sadly, some people are overly sensitive...especially if they lack a sense of humor or at the least patience.

I think even though some questions may not seem like they're that big of a deal, I've come to learn that it's all relative and something that seems ridiculous to you might be extremely important to that person, so I'd be careful about what you say. Some people are also just much more sensitive, but to be safe I'd say yes, maybe tone it down because you really never know if someone is posting a question of utmost importance to them, and will get really hurt if they think people are making fun of them.

Ignore them.
I took the trouble of providing a humorously sarcastic answer to a question I found which had zero answers after festering for 5 days.
The question was "Any cures for baldness?" and I replied "get a cow to lick the bald patch" even citing the source of my remedy, the North of England.
The Q'er emailed me saying "if you don't have anything useful to say, then it would be better if you said nothing."
Well, I'm afraid that I had to disagree. If I had no answers to a question, then I would prefer at least one sarcastic one, to none at all.
I bet that all the people who didn't get it all come from the same place, right?

You should tone it down. Sarcasm is insulting to the listener.
If someone asks, for instance, "Should I change clothes?" and your reply is, "No, you should wear those for the rest of your life," the underlying, unspoken message you're sending is, "What a stupid question, you moron." You may find it funny and clever, but most recipients of sarcasm find it hurtful and mean.

I know. its really pathetic. I too answer a lot of questions sarcastically. people are so damn sensitive. I mean lighten up. you would swear you are trying to solve world hunger. people simply cannot laugh anymore.. I really crack up at some of the answers and they make my day. I had some gay dude report me. and if you have ever seen some of this Lorenzo's ?? I am like Geez. this guy has no personality whatsoever.. his ?? are stuff like. how are you today.. what are your plans this weekend. phew. talk about personality LOL relax people it isn’t all that serious. Geez

i think that you are getting what you look for,when you use sarcasm ,you know already what reaction that you will get from this,you should not be surprised when it makes others angry with you.yes,do tone it down a wee bit.
