because they suck at real football and they could never compete with real greatness, spirit and culture like the rest of the world's teams have to offer

Because Americans always want to be #1 and they have no chance of that in soccer. Therefore they're no longer interested. Which is really sad 'cause soccer really is the beautiful game. If Americans want to do better in the World Cup they should care more about the game and pay more attention to it. Otherwise they'll never get anywhere.

People from the US (Americans are from any part of the American Continent, North, Central or South) are very narrow-minded about many things. Take the metric system for example.
People from the US don't like what they don't know, and it may be also due to the factor that Soccer is a very competitive sport and also very passionate. People from the US want things quick and abundant and effortless.
I personally think it's catching on more than ever though. A few years from now, the US will have a much more competitive team and then there will be a lot more followers.

Soccer is a GREAT sport, I played for 13 years on an organized team. The fact of the matter is.... it wasnt created in the US so Americans dont like it. Thats all there is to it. everyone thinks its for wusses when the facts tell the truth. More life threatening and career ending injuries then football. FOOTBALL now there is a JOKE. Work out so you can run around in a bunch of pads to get mauled by a 300lb guy.... now thats a sport????

Cause Americans think soccer is a girly sport. I know people will say me a sexist. But this true. Since I've been here, I coached couple of primary and junior high school class team. And believe it or not parents of buys don't let their boys to play soccer because they think it is a sport only for girls. I think unless they change their mentality about soccer "the future of men's soccer" and allover soccer is going to be a "sucks" sport.

There are millions of fans in the US, however the media is not keen on promoting the event because there is less opportunity for advertising revenue. There are not frequent enough breaks to enable this.

I guess you could partly say because of the media, no support from them causes US citizens to think this sport sucks and what not media and advertising is very important in the US.

Not enough "time-outs" during the games so they can watch somebody dressed in a giant chicken costume fire hot dogs from a bazooka into the crowd...so it can't be an entertaining sport, can it????
