I have bought my CPU pentium 4 3E GHz with Gigabyte 8IPE1000 Pro-G mother board one year ago, It works well until one month ago, since a month ago my cpu is turned off in the middle of the operation usually when I use it very much, I also check my cpu temp, and it is normal, even I checked my motherboard, power supply and Hard drive, they are also working well.
I dont know why the CPU is going unstable.
If anyone knows the problem please let me know.

Problems like you describe are always caused by one of 3 things: overheating (cpu or chipset), weak/bad power supply, or faulty RAM. I would guess overheating in your case. To check, take the side off your case, and try doing whatever it is that has been making this happen (gaming, right?).

If it doesn't happen with the side off, your cpu is overheating, when you have the side on. If it still happens, it's more than likely your psu (power supply) going bad/having too little power on the +12V rail. BTW, your cpu should never get hotter than around 60°C. Try this software: http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php for checking your cpu temp. (the download link is in the middle of the page, just click on "SpeedFan 4.28").

This is what I use to check memory stability: http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Benchmarks/Stress-Prime.shtml Once you've installed it, just run it on the "Blend" test, which will stress both your cpu and RAM. You'll have to let it run for at least 8 hours to be sure there isn't a problem, though if there is a problem, it usually finds it much sooner than that.

Yes, if you have had it a year, you might need to clean the dust out, overheating can cause the cpu to shut down(clean out the power supply of dust as well). If you dont have compressed air, a vacuum suction hose will work just as well. Do that first, if the problem persists then look for other causes(spyware, viruses, etc) you could also try wiping the hard drive and reinstalling windows.

Take the cover off, clean out the dust using compressed air. Make sure you get all the dust out of the CPU heatsink.

Check the BIOS setting to make sure that the temperature shutdown is not set too low.

have you checked it for spyware, adware, viruses, trojans' rootkits?? sounds like you got yerself one nasty software problem, do a full backup of your computer, and format and re-install, that's if you don't find any of the above mentioned problems
