Why should we be annoyed? English is not the only language in the world! Nor is it the most widely spoken.

I notice that you have asked at least one question in a language that befits your name, which is a very pretty French one.

I suspect that you are playing Devil's Advocate ;)

If here is England, then it has not always been the only language. The language that was spoken in Celt times was probably closest to Welsh, this evolved with invasions by various forces, for example, the vikings and the Romans did not speak English and many of the English words we take for granted have French, German or Latin origins.

Asian has also long been slowly integrated into our language as the region roughly now known as Iran was once Persia, a grand empire that used to trade in slaves and valuables. Persian boats have been found wrecked off the coast of England Wales and Ireland.

The presance of so many nationalities ( Asian, East Europian and African ) is not as new as we think, only nowadays they can have status other than slaves.

The English language will continue to evolve and if we were to time travel 500 years into the future, we would find the language as quirky and odd a sif we travelled 500 years into the past.

No. Why should I be annoyed? The world is filled with hundreds of different languages. God made it that way. I wish we could all just embrace each other's differences instead of being annoyed by them. After all, this country which allows to you speak freely - even when it's a question like this - was formed and founded by many nationalities. Most of us in this country come from immigrants from other countries and/or native american heritages.

Perhaps you could channel your energy into learning a new language and then hope that people whose language you are learning won't be annoyed with you!

Well, English was never the "only" language here. Let's not forget for instance that Florida was settled by the Spanish. I do agree that things would be easier if everyone spoke English, but it would be ignorant to pretend that there was some "ideal" time when that was actually true.

Well baby, this is call globalization, in order to be better and competitive EVERYBODY should at LEAST know 2 languages. And let me tell you something. To all those that are annoyed with the Spanish language, oh well! you must be thankful that at least Spanish uses the same, or kind of the same alphabet as English, because soon enough ALL of us will be forced to learn Chinese (Mandarin) and oh baby! you are going to HATE THAT!

I am not annoyed about the English language thing but i am pretty p****d off that every time a question says HERE, over half the answerers automatically think it refers to USA.
Get over yourselves, there are other places you know.

Actually English has never been the only language here. American Indian's language was the first!

Well it never was the only language really, because of the Americans, but I don't mind it, at least people won't be rude to people asking in a totally different language now.

get a grip. the majority of people who speak english are so narrow minded and arrogant that it is the only language they can speak. i have more admiration for people from places like europe who can speak 3-4 different languages fluently. thats the way it should be. i cant stand it when people go to e.g. france or spain but expect to be able to converse in english - they dont even know how to say please or thank you in that country's language!.
