I'd consider that to be drug abuse. Your mother-in-law is only taking the medicine for the high that she gets. If she has to use other peoples' Adderal when the doctor won't prescribe more, she's using too much. If a doctor thought that she needed more, they would find a way to allow them to get some for themselves.

My ex-husband kept his mother on his insurance so that he could get Percoset and Methadone from her. And he would get VERY abusive if she ever was slow in giving them to him. He went through three detox sessions and every time relapsed within two weeks. There is no question about the drug abuse, and the scary thing is, your husband could get in trouble with the law for giving his mother medications that were not prescribed to her.

Sounds like an addiction to me. She should be encouraged to get some counselling. A person can be addicted to just about anything.

Yes, then tossing them out of your moving vehicle or flushing them down the toilet. Kinda like going to Long John Silver's or Captain D's (both ruthless pirates) and having the battered fish.

Let her try to get them herself. Obviously if she actually could she wouldn't be asking him. Lots of people get addicted to these types of pills. He needs to not give her anymore. She can beat this but it starts with getting it out of her system.
