I used to live in Eastern Kentucky (Elkhorn City in Pike County,KY) after my hubby got out of the Marines. He moved us back to his SMALL A$$ town. I was really bored especially for someone coming from Hawai'i. But the people there was a bit ignornant at times because they would literally ask me if I understood what they were saying, or if we had restaurants like AppleB, SteakHouses or the best was do we still live in Grass Shacks. Ok now these people need to really watch the travel stations and search the web. But the most funny of all was when they would ask how we got our car from Hawai'i to Kentucky so we joked along with them saying there is a secret tunnel under the Pacific ocean running to California. But I've visited Lexington wow whole lot of difference from my inlaws home town a 4 hour drive there no then less. I did love when they had their festivals around the town all that food looked good and tasted good also. I did adapt to eating some southern food which is very good and tasty its no wonder most of the old folks back there got High Blood Pressure(to much salt.)In hubby's town though it borders Virgina which there is a National Park there called the Virgina Breaks. Its beautiful up there especially around Christmas when they decorate the whole park and just light it up, the park also has white water rafting, camping, etc. But no sooner did we arrive we moved to WA, later to return to KY, not with my inlaws but to FT.CAMPBELL,KY its a army base. So pretty much I've seen the Eastern Part of KY now I get to see the Eastern Part of KY. Its cool because there is also something called LAND BETWEEN THE LAKES out here. I visited there and it was pretty cool they got a part of that park you can drive your vehicle and watch BISON roam around. There is also a place to go 4wheeling too, campgrounds, boating docks, lots of things to do there. Its ok here but I still miss just having to drive a 5 minute drive to the beach. Here there is just lakes and waterparks or your pool in the backyard. But the people here in this part of Western KY sounds different from the people in Eastern KY I guess that TWANG sounds different. But being from Hawai'i I bet people think I have a weird accent too.

I live in Ohio, not far from Kentucky. It really just depends on where you go in Kentucky. To do, there is Mammoth Caves and the Horse Tracks. And Lake Cumberland. Thats about it. Kentucky can be pretty, or you can get into coal country, which is full of strip mines and trailer parks. Cities like Lexington and Louisville are OK, semi nice, but not a ton to do (again, other than the horse tracks), and are full of chain resteraunts. Outside of those cities, the redneck population is pretty high. Oh, there is always UK basketball if you can get a ticket too. I guess it just depends on what you are looking for.

I stay in Frankfort. that is the capitol and that i imagine that's a scenic and historic little city, besides the indisputable fact that that is were given diverse secrets and techniques and gossip. all of us is familiar with all of us and that area sucks because you won't be able to damage out with some thing. I do trust the Lawernceburg area of your opinion. they're impolite mean and redneck. that is about 20 minutes from Frankfort. Lexington and Louisville have so a lot more desirable to finish that that is the position maximum people bypass to have relaxing. have you ever been to the Newport aquarium? fairly cool position to visit in case you get the prospect. All in all though Ky sucks.
