Why are people so homophobic these days? There's way too many jokes about "gay" people. You might as well be racist. People should be able to choose how they live. I, personally, am not "gay" which is lucky really because if I was gay and open about it, i would constantly be made fun of with quotes from the oh so NOT funny Little Britain. Why are people making fun of those who are homosexual? (Wow. very hard to categorize this question. Men's health was the closest)

Dear Bob,

There will always be people who prey on those who are currently seen as "less than".

Attacking those supposedly "less than" people makes the insecure predators feel strong, "in the know", and "part of the in crowd". Which of course they are not.

They used to prey on Black people until it became unpopular and against the law to do that.

Before that it was Italians, Chinese, Japanese, Irish ... you name it.

Now it's gays.

In 5 years, who knows who they will prey on.

But insecure predators have been around since the beginning of time.

One must know this and always be aware that they are children in adult bodies, who are dangerous.

Hope this helps.

What warrior said is right. I have a few gay friends and some times there are these sly remarks that people make infront of and behind them as well. Mostly behind i guess.

Guess it stems from the fact that we tend to fear what we dont know and always on the edge when you encounter such a situation and we tend to react sharply to it when we are around like minded people who would support you.

Not fair for the gays. They are just about as human as we all are.Just have to be understood a lot better by everyone around them. Simple as that. And for a person who cant accept them, its a shame really.

People are afraid of the unknown. Being gay isn't "normal" to many of the older generation and many have past these ideas onto their children. It's not racism, it's prejudice. (racism is a about race and background) It's still not common in many areas to see same sex partners together. Many people feel threatened by it b/c of the existence of humanity. Too many people are closed minded and should open their minds and hearts to the idea that it's all about love and as long as you are loving, you are living life to it's fullest. what gender you chose to love shouldn't be a deciding factor.

I am very homophobic and I really have no answer as to why. I just do not like being around gay people. It's kind of funny because I have an uncle and a cousin that are gay. I was just brought up with the understanding that GOD intended us to be attracted to the opposite sex.

There is a category under Society & Culture/Culture & Groups...

People fear what they do not understand and which is counter to their own view of themselves...
