TV stands for TeleVision. The prefix "tele" meaning "sound, hearing", such as telephone. The sufix "vision" meaning....vision. Thus TV is a SET of tools, (delivered in one package) for hearing and seeing events.

Remember, before TV, instruments for hearing, (such as the radio) and instruments for seeing, (such as film projectors) were seperate. These tools were united into one SET packaged in a container.
