Unfortunately, because of hundreds of years of all founding fathers (of all nations) governing and educating the people (us) on what is history, right and wrong etc...you will never get a straight answer.
Some (the majority) will refuse to ask them-self the questions that f**k with our conscience and others will try to answer it but will confuse you into oblivion (this answer here).

Basically, when you have power and the backing of others in power, you can do whatever it is you like AND if you manage to maintain that power and are able to monopolise the system in every which way you can get the whole world (almost) agreeing with the things you say and do and believing in the things you do....Its called blind faith...some of us just don't know how to actually think for ourselves and when they meet people that do, they get scared and oh so quickly judge them just to show the majority that they don't want to be an individual, they want to be like everyone else...accepted.

UNDERSTAND?

Hitler needed a scape goat to propel his cause. Nazi's espoused hatred of more groups than just Jews of course.

"White men" were greedy and wanted more and more territory. Saw N.Americans as savages.

Could cosmopolitan German citizens have looked at Jews the same way as the settlers looked at Native Americans?? Could the army of America have done the same things as the SS??

I should hope not..

Interesting comparison.

If you are speaking of the Pilgrims, you need to understand that the world had very different values back then. "Empire" was one of the most exalted concepts. Nowadays, if you accuse a country of trying to be an empire, the meaning is entirely negative.

Back in those days, people truly believed they were civilizing the savages. We can't use today's standards to judge the way people perceived the world hundreds of years ago. Their reality was different from ours. Certainly India benefitted from colonialism.

However, if you want to watch a movie that reflects your point of view, watch 2005 Collin Ferrell movie, THE NEW WORLD.

There are plenty of people who hold the founding fathers in far less flattering light than you think. I think many adults recognize that there are far more complex historical issues than George's cherry tree or Franklin's kite, like the Indian genocide in 1779.

in some sense they are because of the way they treated native americans and african americans,

but what our founding fathers did or didn't do is reason enough for us to aspire to do wats better for our fellow human beings knowing that sometime in our past some shameful things have happened

what happened in the past should not stay in the past but should be learned and noted in the present to serve us in the future

and the mistakes or the lack of action of our founding fathers in terms of the treatment of native americans and african slaves should remind us and guide our actions now

which is why it is so distressing to hear all the anti-immigration bills being passed and the national guard being deployed

learn the lesson :)

Simply because they created the greatest country the world has ever seen.

And btw, the "Native Americans" treated other "Native Americans" with extreme brutality. They had methods of torture that Europeans would never have thought of in a million years.

Because they are heroes in spite of their flaws. For instance, your flaw is that you are perpetually angry, perhaps for reasons not entirely understood by you. If you (and I mean you) like Snickers but hate Almond Joy, does that mean the makers of Almond Joy are nazis led by a Hitlerite CEO?

I disagree with your comparison of our founding fathers to Hitler.
