Radioactive iodine uptake test?

Question

I have to have an iodine uptake test and they tell me the iodine will be delivered via an IV. Everything on the web indicates pill form. Has anyone had this test and if so can you tell me about it? I"m told I will have to go back to the hosptial 4 hours after the first read and then again the next morning for another read.

I was an inpatient when I had this test I was injected with radioactive iodine and tested at intervels. I had no reaction to the injection. It wasn't a bad test
