It seems I have pissed of a lot of smokers.
Bottom line is that smoking is waste of money, it smells, turns things a dingy color. oh ya it will kill you! I guess I just can't see how people can keep smoking.

In CT it's against the law to smoke in public restaurants, bars, and other eateries where the smoke can and most likely will be considered offensive. But unfortunately not too many states have laws like this so if this is not the case for you you may want to send your local representative a letter or somehow communicate with him/her about something like this. I think it's a great law and can greatly help with people's health in general. Otherwise you'll unfortunately have to find another place to do whatever it is that you do since some areas (especially outside) you're allowed to smoke in. But some places like amusement parks and other places that young children may frequently visited are generally smoke-free as deemed by the company that owns the place and/or property. It all depends on the situation; well really that is where you are.

I agree with you. Even though I smoke once in a while, I find it obnoxious when smokers blow their smoke and non-smokers have to smell it and get that smell on their clothes. Unfortunately this issues hasn't become important enough to be addressed more formally. But I can tell you, there won't be any legislation against smokers smoking outside. That would cripple the cigarette industry and many jobs will be lost, which would have a adverse effect to the economy.

Smoking in the open air does not produce anywhere near the toxic substances that are already there for you to inhale. Smokers should be considerate of others and stand away from people who don't smoke when smoking outside, and if they do, they are as harmless as anything else you are exposed to outside.

I am not talking about smoking as a member of a crowd outside, obviously, as being that close to someone smoking could put smoke close enough for someone else to inhale.

But just standing in the street causes you to inhale fumes that are harmful. More harmful stuff in more harmful quantities are pumped in to the air from vehicles and factories every single second. Even if nobody smoked, there would still be the same death of things as various as trees and people as ever.

I work with the public and the worst smell in the world is that stale some smell, especially when someone returns clothing that has been sitting in a smoky car or house. When I'm out side and I walk by someone who's smoking I litterally have to hold my breath because it stinks. I think it should be baned all together, but that's never going to happen

Why do fat people feel they have the right to go back to the buffet as many times as they want? Why can they eat trans-fats and high cholesterol in public? I should have the right not to be around them!

There is no "right" to be away from second-hand smoke. If you don't like smoke, you can find a restaurant that has a no smoking policy. Stop complaining about your fellow citizens who smoke. You are intolerant!! What is next--you want the right to be free of crying babies in restaurants???

I think you should be worried more about the air pollution from cars and the preservatives in your genetically altered food than a second hand smoke from people enjoying a cigarette.
Tobacco in itself is not harmful, it's the added chemical crap that the tobacco companies add to it that messes with your body and causes addiction.
Stop whining and go get a hobby.
Like campaigning for cleaner air vehicles to be cheaper and more affordable to the general public.

And frankly, if you fart in the public restroom , why don't I have the right not too smell your noxious emissions? You should be banned.

What give you the right to take away the rights of your fellow citizens? If you don't want to breath second hand smoke why to you live near cars? Do you live in a big city(pop. over1.0 Million)? Why focus on the little problem of cig smoke in public? Why not focus on factories, cars, public transportation, or any other fossil fuel burning device? Do you really think that if smoking was banned it would increase air quality that much?
And besides the worlds greatest treat to the air we breath is the BILLIONS of small cooking fires in south east Asia. not Joe blow on the corner sucking on some cancer.

I agree. Second Hand Smoke (which, to all you non-believers, is a reality by the way) kills 53,800 people each year. With statistics like that, I think Cigarettes, which have no real benefit to the well-being of our society, should really be classified as a weapon. People should be required to obtain a license to smoke. And smoking in the general vicinity of an innocent by-stander should be considered assault with a deadly weapon.
But that's just my opinion.

They're trying to make smoking illegal here, which I think is friggen awesome. So many smokers are crying and complaining though, it doesn't bother anyone, blah blah blah, it's my choice....and it goes on. But, when in fact it's my choice to live, so why the hell are blowing your crap in my face to inhale. Some know that, and at least try to blow the smoke in the other direction, but most I've seen just don't give a crap. Shouldn't I be allowed to carry a knife (Under 3inch blade is legal, right...) and just Ya know...stab a smoker a little bit, it's my choice to stab, not my fault your in the way. Obviously I won't, and don't advise anyone doing it, but I'm making point here :P:P

the last time i checked smokers have rights too. in today's pc world smokers are the bane of everyone's existence simply because many of us agree that indoor smoking can not only be an annoyance to others but a hazard to their health. by the same token, where exactly do you stop. in today's society there's nothing forcing you to be a patron of a restaurant that has a smoking area or in most states to work in an environment that allows smoking so get over it...
