Has anyone else noticed that gays dont want equal rights? They want to be treated special. They dont want to get made fun of, but guess what? there not the only people in the world getting made fun of. And gay marriage? Please. Its not like were saying that only gay people shouldnt get married to each other, nobody of the same sex should, its just stupid. If everyone in the world was gay, it would end the world, the population would cease to grow. I support gays, but I dont think they should get any special treatment, and why do they feel like they have to have "gay pride"? That annoys me. I dont go around saying I have "white heterosexual male pride." Ok, your gay, who cares? nobody cares if your gay. It just annoys me when they try to rub it in your face so youll treat them differently.

Some of you just dont get it, like Dee down there. who said "we are winning this battle so far" WHAT BATTLE!?!? It shouldnt be a battle, gay people should just live there lives like everyone else, you shouldnt even know somebodys gay unless you ask them. I dont go around shouting "Im straight!! straight pride!!"

Some of you still dont get it, I have absolutley nothing against gays, but why do I need to know when somebodys gay? Why do they need special treatment, and pride and why do I have to treat somebody who is gay differently? If i tell a straight man I hate him, then I hate him. If i tell a gay man I hate him, Its assumed I hate him because he is gay. Its assumed that I automatically hate all gays.

They would get treated equally if they accepted there equal treatment. They think they dont get equal treatment because they get discriminated against. EVERYBODY gets discriminated against in one way or another.

Did any of you ever stop to think, If a gay person didnt go around shouting to the world they were gay, then nobody would know/care? An Employer has no right to know if your gay or not, so I dont see how any of you are getting this "we cant get promoted" crap. Unless you go up to the employer and straight up tell him (for no reason I might add) your gay, then he has no reason to ever know.

I don't hate gays or lesbians, but I do agree that they want "special" rights. They already have equal rights. What I can't understand is why they want a law to allow them to marry. Hell, who needs a damn law to "allow" you to do anything you already have a right to do? I've been married to the same woman for several years and we've never had a marriage license. Don't need it. And I'll never "ask" government to allow me to do anything that isn't any of their damn business in the first place.

If any of you gay or lesbian folks out there want to get married, just do it and tell everyone else to shut the **** up! Don't lobby for yet another stupid, useless law.

Obviously you haven't read the actual legislation throughout the country and in Congress These laws that have passed and some they are attempting to pass, don't just talk about gay marriage.

Some of them go as far as to say you can legally be fired from a job if you are gay and the employer doesn't agree with being gay even if you do not participate in any gay act on the job.

Just the simple legislation of banning gay marriage is discriminating. Why do you think they want a constitutional amendment passed? Because they know that if this gets all the way to the supreme court, there is no way they can ban the right for two consenting adults to marry unless it is written in the constitution.

There is a long list of things in the legislation that are 'taking away' rights of a normal gay citizen. This 'special rights' argument always baffles me. All gay ppl want is to have the SAME rights as all other ppl recognized as a union or partnership by the state.

I agree, not being made fun of or certain things would be special treatment, such as Hate Crimes, etc every crime is an act of violence or hate, however marriage is a right under the Constitution that should be given to any adult, regardless of Sexual Orientation. It is not a question open for any other human except the two who are in love with each other so although you validate the definition of equal rights , Know that Marriage is an equal right under the Constitution and Church and State are to be separate under our Government, thus marriage is not a religious issue. I am for Equal Rights for every Citizen of the USA, and that goes for the right to marry as a consenting adult.

P.S. I agree on the "gay pride" I live in the Bay Area and we were just saying what month is "Straight Pride" month and when is the Parade. Although Pride festivities range from Cultural events and Racial Heritage on down to religious events-so if there is a gay pride so what?

PS your last question about sex wiht your GF sure does say, "I'm Straight I'm Straight" to me..LOL

this is because homosexuals get ridiculed the most. The constitution protects against disabilites, race, etc., not homosexuality. gay marriage should be up to that one particular church in which the marriage should take place. the gov't has no right to ban gay marriage. marriage is a religious thing and we have something called separation of church and state. also, in the constitution, there is a statement: "EVERYONE is entitled to life, liberty, and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. we have a right to be happy like everyone else. if everyone was gay, then the gay men would donate sperm to the lesbians(what lesbian doesn't want kids?-I apologize if i've offended any lesbian). In the movie almost normal, everyone is gay, and heterosexuality is a sin. this is a good movie. all of the homosexuals pick a person of the opposite sex to have a child with to keep up the population. out of all the minorities, homesexuals-not "gays" are the most ridiculed like i've said earlier. if you want, you can go start a white heterosexual male pride, but i highly doubt that anyone will follow. the ONLY reason why LGBT people get discriminated against is because thay are LGBT

How is letting two people who are in love get married to each other a "special right"? It's what everyone else does, after all. Methinks you have "special rights" confused with "equal rights."

And the "if everyone in the world was gay..." argument doesn't work, because it won't happen. Why? Because homosexuality is very much in the minority, and unless we sorely need it, evolution will not change that. Letting gays get married will not change that. Everybody's paranoid that the population will suddenly drop, but considering how overpopulated this planet already is, I fail to see why that's a bad thing.

And you may have "heterosexual pride," which is all fine and dandy, but you have to understand that for years gays have been denigrated and stigmatized simply for being gay, whereas heteros have not; hence the need for pride. It helps them realize that they have some worth in this world, and that they are not evil people, despite what others might say.

No, wrong, gay and lesbian people just want the same rights that are given to straight people - marriage is a good example. You don't need "white breeder male pride" since you already have all the rights on your side.

Gay people don't want to be treated any differently. We want to be treated fairly and with justice. You "question" shows that you can't make that distinction.

To go even further, I as a gay person would like to have the right to walk down the street at night and not be assaulted or have things thrown at me by hate-mongering "christians". This has happened to me in every city in the US I have ever visited except - believe it or not - Salt Lake City. You think that discrimination and bigotry doesn't hurt anyone, but when it moves people to violence, you are literally dead wrong.

First of all it's society the makes it a bid deal not gays themselves, If people were allowed to marry whom they want, there wouldn't be any issues. You didn't say if you were married if you are did you have a problem when you went to the make the arrangements??? How would you feel if the love of your life and you were told you couldn't marry?? Gay people are the same sex, they are the one being told they can't marry. The possibility of everyone being gay ,lets say would be like everyone being white, or red, black Sperm banks are for gay males too. . There would never be a lack of people on the planet. As far a your so called white heterosexual male pride goes. Yes you do show it in this comment you just posted

It's the right wing lunatic fringe asking for special rights. Heterosexuals can marry and we can't. That is a special right. We a re just asking to be treated equally. You say you support gay people but it soundsl ike you're one the many that are perfectly willing to support us as long as we don't assert our rights. And yes you are saying only gay people shouldn't get married. "nobody from the same sex should" That would be the definition of gay, same sex. Yes if everyone was gay the population would cease to grow hence why everyone is not gay so it's a moot point. And if you don't like pride well my solution is simple just don't go to pride events but don't expect us to hide in closets anymore.

"Special" has become its own strange pejorative since it was associated with people with learning disabilities. It's become a way of dissing something without sounding overtly bigoted. The good side of this argument against 'special rights' is that it shows that the bigots are losing ground. Fewer of them are trying to deny gay folks 'rights' anymore, so they've moved on to trying to reclassify the rights into a different category. Basically it's the slippery slope into acceptance of equal rights for all. We'll get there yet.

first off, we are not asking for special rights. we just want the same rights that everybody else has. how are we being treated special if we just want to get married LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE? we aren't asking for anything different. we just want to be treated equally.

and, of COURSE, everybody is made fun of. but this isn't the same thing as making fun of the fat kid, or the kid with glasses, or the one with a lot of acne. there are actual CRIMES being committed against gay people, SPECIFICALLY gay people. would you have been one of those people during the civil rights movements who told the blacks to stop whining, that EVERYONE gets picked on?

people shouldn't care if we are gay, straight, lesbian, bi, whatever...but that doesn't change the fact that people DO care and they bloody well make sure that people know that they do care and that ALL gay people are going to HELL. we are not trying to rub it in anyone's faces that we are gay. we are just trying to be proud of who we are, trying to show people that we do not care if they care or not. some gay people have to show their pride because it keeps their spirits up.

it isn't easy to be in a world where a lot of people are looking down at you, hissing about the fiery depths we'll reside in once we die.

life isn't easy for ALL people, but for gay people, it's even harder.

It's you who isn't getting the message.

Can you be fired because you employer knows you are heterosexual? No. Such firing is illegal.

Can you be denied job promotion because you employer knows you are heterosexual. No. Again illegal

Can you be denied housing because you prospective landlord knows you are heterosexual? No. Again illegal.

Are you denied health insurance benefit's because your spouse is a different sex? Again, no.

Should you die, will your spouse be thrown penniless into the streets by your grasping relatives? No, again protected by law.

WE DEMAND EQUALITY..... there's nothing special about that.

Has equality suddenly become special because homosexuals are demanding fair treatment? You seem to think that one standard for heterosexuals and another lower standard for homosexuals is just and right. It's not YOU that has to accept the lower standard and would you like it if you had to?

From the additional details you have added to you original question, I don't think any of my arguments will get through to you. You have the right to your opinions no matter how unreasonable they may be.
