Babies start sitting up on their own around 5 or 6 mths. It really depends on the baby.

No, and you shouldnt put your baby to sit. It can seriously hurt its spine. Baby can start sitting on its own at 6 months of age.

From about 5 months or so, you can put them into a sitting position and they'll stay for a while. It'll take another couple months before they will get into a sitting position on their own.

My baby is 11 mo. (she was 3 mo. premature) and she's still not sitting on her own. She's doing well prop sitting and will sit if there's a toy in front of her to play with, but you have to be there to catch her or she will just fall backwards and smack her head on the floor.

I think all babies are different....they will do it in time and that you really can't compare.

Depends on the baby - 2 of mine started at 5 mon. and one started about 4 mon. on their own. My second child did everything early though - he crawled at 4 months too, and walked on his own at 8 mon. And my first one walked at 9 mon. and my last one walked at 10 mon. So, like I said- it depends on the baby.
My sister has a baby that is 7 mon. and can't sit up on her own. Well, kinda, but not really.

about 5 to 6 months, depends on the baby! about 4 months you should start sitting them on your lap with one hand in their front and one on their back! they will start to learn how to hold themselves up like this !!
