Go to "start".."run"..type in msconfig then click on "startup"..uncheck the folder then click on "Services" and do the same...then you'll

have to reboot...when system reboots it will prompt you about the changes you

made...just check the box on the bottom left side saying..."don't show this message

again"

That should solve your problem...Good luck

This happens when your PC is infected by some spyware.

To stop the Common Folder from opening, Click Start -> Run and type MSCONFIG and click OK.

Goto the Startup Tab and look for the item which mentions the common folder and uncheck that item and click ok. Its ok to restart your pc, but you can choose not to restart your pc at the moment if you do not wish to at the moment.

On the next restart, a window will appear mentioning that you made some changes to the MSCONFIG utility, click on the check box meant for tell the utility that its ok that you did the change and click ok.

For removing the spywares, you can use various spyware removal software. I use Adaware and spybot. You can consult your friends and check.

Cheers,
Manish

You should have mentioned the operating system you are using. In windows 98 if you shut down the pc without closing the common folder it will open up automatically when you re-start. Therefore close all the folders before shutting down your pc.

you might have spyware on your computer or something like that. Do a virus check and unplug it from the internet when you start it up and see what happens. It could be that your computer just does it for no reason. But I need more specs on the computer, operating system and all that stuff to tell anything good to you.

go to start, all programs, start-up, and see if your common foldert is in there. If it is right click and the menu will popup, click delete.
