I'm not sure about that...But I was 17 and my fiance was 20 when we started dating...In most states 16 is the age of consent. I had to come back and edit just to clear something up. In Ohio, it is totally legal for a 17 yr old to be sleeping with a 20 yr old WITH consent. Meaning the 17 yr old's parents have no problem with it. People act like we're still living in the 18oo's. OMG 17 year olds having sex....get real. Girls start a lot younger now than they did 50 years ago. I guess it depends on the person. I was very mature for 17. I had taken care of my epileptic brother most of the time. I moved in with that 20 year old when I was about 17 and a half. He didnt have aids, he didnt bring his friends to rape me. He's always been great to me which is more than the guys I dated that were my age. By the way, I didnt sleep with the other guys I dated. I don't appreciate people saying that all men that date younger women are bad. My fiance took me to and from school my senior year because I had no other ride. He gave me money so I could get lunch, hell he even bought me clothes and such. I asked him recently if he would've dated me if I had been any younger than 17 and he said no. We now have 2 children together and he still does what he should. He works a lot of overtime so I don't have to work. It's not that I don't want to, but so we don't have to put our children in daycare. I do thing the situation you are refering to it was wrong for this man to be sleeping with this girl. Aren't foster parents their to PROTECT the children that are in their care? I'm sorry to get all personal but I had to stick up for my man. He did nothing wrong where I am concerned.
"Statutory rape is sexual penetration of a victim by the defendant or of the defendant by the victim when the victim is at least thirteen (13) but less than eighteen (18) years of age and the defendant is at least four (4) years older than the victim" tHIS IS FOR THE STATE OF TENNESEE....
Since 20-17=3, no this wouldnt be considered statutory rape

You may not want to hear this but all I can say is at 17 he probably feels like he can conquer the world. No matter how much love you show him or how much you think you can change him, he's not going to change. Not for a while anyway. I do understand this situation and I was in a very similar situation when I was 17 (except the drugs and record). It's hard for a guy to make a decent relationship work with an older woman at that age because of the maturity level. In the end you'll wind up dealing with more drama then he may be worth. Think long and hard about your decision.

NOPE!!!! it is not legal in Tennessee, until age 18. Only way to keep from getting into trouble is if her parents like and except you. If not they can get you for stagitory rape, even if you both consented, because of her age. It happened to one of my brothers friends ( his friend was not just dating, but lived with his ex girlfriend and her parents. Her parents knew what they were doing. They broke up before she was 18, he moved out ans two days later, was arrested for stagetory rape.) and now he has register as a sex offender the rest of his life.

I think the man has low self esteem if he has to date a child and the chid has no home training her parents did't raise her right if she has to go do it with an adult if your parents still buy you things you live in they house and have to depend on them you don't need to be having sex with no one and I think she hurts inside that she has to live in foster care to go have sex with any one
Tell this " young lady" she needs to wait till she is 18 cuz you never know what a 20 year old man can do to you (i.e. bring his friends to rape you, might have AIDS he is a sexually active 20 year old male)

No. according to the law anyone who is over 18 cannot have sex with someone who is under 18. If someone does so, they will be persicuted with rape. Even if the person under 18 wants the sex.

if the female gets pregnant, and sue the male, even if she called to have sex, the law will protect the underage female, and accuse the male of sexual abuse
