-The engine has to be removed from the frame. Then unbolt the metal coolant line from the motor and remove it. Unbolt the water pump cover. Remove the cap nut on the water pump impeller.
-If the water pump isn't working, then you might have some serious damage and will have to remove the rear engine cover (a little more involved). The camshaft end holds the water pump impeller (in other words, the camshaft is part of the water pump). To remove the camshaft, the cyl heads have to be removed.

Here's an easy way to check if the water pump is working.
Drain the coolant.
Remove the metal coolant line.
Insert a probe into the water pump cover.
Turn the motor by hand. Check if the impeller is turning.

what ever you do when you replace your water pump make sure you use honda anti freeze car anti freeze has silica in it and will make your seals on your new pump start to leak a lot sooner, the silica in the car anti freeze IE. prestone or etc does have silca in it thats what keeps the inside of the radiator clean,if you use anti freeze from honda it doesnt have silica in it .and your water pump seal will last a lot longer.
