I used to have a '94 Suzuki RF600R back in 2000. I haven't ridden since then. I am looking to by a new bike. I went and sat on some sportbikes like the GSXR600 and ZX6R. Problem is my old bike had more of a seat which I guess I got used to because the new sportbikes did not seem to fit me right. What would be your suggestion for my next purchase? I will mainly ride on the weekends and maybe to and from work about 12 miles.

sounds like HD Billy has motorcycle envy- just cause you can't afford one billy boy- don't put the ones of us that can down... my FXSTI is 2 yrs old and has 14,000 on it, and i just got back on it after 6 months off from back surgery- only time i don't ride it is when it's icy, and never had it more than 120 miles from home- this is an around town bike, not one for trips- the ones of who ride, i mean RIDE like Harley's for the resale value, if we ever get rid of them, lol

the VMax is a sweet bike, lots of power, fun to ride
and yeah, i have a 1988 Honda shadow too (138,000 miles)

Yeah man! Invest in a Harley. Its a true investment because you only need to spend like $18,000, and then all the servicing and repairs, and then the outfits, some loud pipes and a new cam, and then the other keychains, coffee mugs, etc. And, since you'll only be driving it on weekends and occasionnally to work, you'll only put about 500 miles a year on it. So when you go to sell it, that $20k investment will be worth about $15k when you put in on the market with 1000 miles on it. That will only cost you about $5 per mile. Thats a great investment! And its American!!!

I have two suggestions - my current bike is very nice, and it has a good seat - I own a Kawasaki Ninja 650R.

My other suggestion - and only because you are an experienced rider who is going to ride on weekends, is to get something bad *** - like a VMax (Yamaha).

Good luck, be safe, wear gear (helmet, jacket, etc.).

Why not step up and take a trip to your local Harley dealer? Eventually you'll want to have a bike that is more of an investment than a throw away.

I would suggest a cruiser. Honda Shadow, Yamaha V star, Yamaha Roadstar...those style of bikes...they all make there own version. I Know that Honda and Yamaha make cruisers in the 600-750cc range.
