I don't think you can do that. There might be a few small apps that would run that way but anything substantial would require being installed in the host.
My guess is the best you could do would be copy the program to a portable drive and then run the install when you hook to a PC.

Sorry, but this good idea will not work in a simple way with present Windows versions.
A program has to be "installed" into a PC's Registry database before it can execute. Storing it on an external drive would not be recognized by the PC.
An alternative would be to store the all the programs' installer files (the files usually kept on a CD), on your external drive, then do installations on the PC's you visit.
But watch out for licensing restrictions. Many purchased software licenses are for 1 PC only.

First answer is correct for most programs. While there are a handful that will run from a secondary drive like that without being installed on the first drive, they are mostly older programs or simple programs. For most, it would not work.

Honey you are going to need battery back up for running those installation and make damn sure that you have an intell processor I like e-machines, and road runner, but it will take time to do that. You can copy them to a disk from your main computer and transfer them via flopy or cd, I prefer cd's as they can hold alot more data. I agree you have to watch for licensing agreemnets it's a shame but so true... I was trying to give my friend a copy of Nero and I cannot do that for the sake of a license.

This won't work, because almost every program needs to interact with your Windows system, and because each computer has its own copy/version of Windows (if it even runs Windows), the program(s) needs an install on each computer. Sorry for the bad news.
