You won't ship your item until you get paid, so where is the worry ???

I've been on ebay now since 02/1998. Once upon a time it was far easier to get ripped off. However, the security measure that are now in place to help prevent both bad buyers and seller are far better and getting better each day. As a seller when you list the item, make sure you have a PayPal account set up and ready to go. In the listing only accept PayPal, Cashier's Check/Money Orders. Never ship the item till the money is in your account. With this all said I'm sure you will have many sucessful sales on Ebay.

From my experience and the experience of people I know, eBay is a safe and credible way of selling items. Obviously it is somewhat of a gamble in terms of a price because it reality it is very similar to an auction. Buyer profiles are available and you have the option of pulling out. There are those who try to scam, but it becomes very hard to do so. The best way to sell is to require some type of "digital" payment, i.e. PayPal, Credit Card, etc. This ensures that you receive the money before sending the item to the buyer.

Likely? no.. but it is always possible when dealing with people. I must say, however, that I have been selling on Ebay for some time now and have had no problems with the buyers.. I have had my problems with a couple of SELLERS, though.. It is all a matter of watching out for yourself and educating yourself on how to go through the process. Good luck.

These are the hints:
1. When you hear Western Union - run away. There is definitely a fraud
2. Do not accept casiers check and do not accept more money that the original bid amount
3. Always use credit card or paypal.
4. If you have recieved an email from the sender, look at the email headers for the originating IP address and locate the originating location. If it is Romania or eastern Europe, run away. See how to do that:

I have been selling about a year now and hav been buying for several years. I have only had 1 bad buying experience. I have a disclaimer that I don't ship anything until I have payment .if then send a check it must wait up to 10 days to clear the bank.....So far I have had great luck. Give it a try.

I've sold plenty of things on eBay and I've never been ripped off.

Just be smart - only accept PayPal or cashiers checks, and don't mail the merchandise until the payment has been made.

Well, as long as you are smart about what you are doing (verify you have payment before sending, make sure what you send is in the correct quality and correctly listed, etc) you'll be fine.

As long as you wait to ship the item until you're paid, you should be okay. Also, use PayPal as much as you can, they often offer more protection for sellers.
