Finally, after 4 years of marriage my husband has finally agreed to getting circumcised. He agreed to get it done when he turned 30 and May 23 was his 30th birthday. We have consulted with a clinic in the Baton Rouge area that specializes in this and discussed the pros and cons and have set the date for Friday June 30 so he can have the following week off to recover. My ex boyfriend before I married was also not circumcised so this will be something new for the both of us.
Has anyone else been through this and what can we expect? Girls, is it better cut or should we cancel? I'm a little nervous but really think I want this. We are going to take pics before and after and are trying to get in as much sex as possible before cut date to compare the before and after feelings for the both of us. Willing to share results and answer questions later as a man and woman that has experienced both. Hope its worth it because I know it's final.

He can expect to loose upto 30% of his nerve endings, so sex will be less pleasurable.

Plus without the protection his glands will become less sensitive as he get older.

Dear Christie,

I hope you and he will reconsider.
Unlike a vasectomy, circumcision is not really reversible.
It is important to understand this, and it is good that you are trying to get answers.

Most people have this done because they are told it should be done, or might really think an uncircumcised penis is not "right" somehow.

And others see a cleanliness problem.
There is a cleanliness problem for men who have not yet learned to care for their bodies. It can be a challenge for many men to actually learn to care for their bodies, since men are often not brought up to think this way.

Your husband is very fortunate if you have an uncircumcised penis. The foreskin is a simple and usually dependable body part that works very well.

Nature put the foreskin there to protect the sensitive head. This protection keeps the head sensitive so that sex is very pleasurable. Without it, sex will be very different and the penis head will be far less sensitive.

The foreskin also prevents anything from touching the head and arousing a male unintentionally. This can be especially good when one is young and easily aroused, but also has homework to do.

The foreskin is a brilliant piece of engineering by nature.

Hope this helps.

Why? after all this time, and to be honest honey, it is better with the skin there is a difference. I watched a documentary on this matter, and some doctors say that it isn't really necessary and sometimes if it is not done correctly some of the penis is cut off, but they were referring to the babies. Also, they showed men who had been circumcised, who are know getting the skin back on. They go through some process of pulling the skin down from the penis and strapping a weight at the end. This one guy did it and his wife said that the sex was better with the skin, I must agree with her. It is like the ultimate condom with ridges, they can imitate, but never duplicate. Well, good luck.

Alice,
I'm a guy who's considering being circumcised. What sort of health benefits are there to the procedure? Are there any drawbacks? Also, how much of the foreskin is removed? A little bit? Most of it? All of it, right down to the base of the head? Or what?

—Considering Clipping

Dear Considering Clipping,
Circumcision is the surgical removal of all or part of the foreskin, the skin that covers the head of the penis. The procedure is usually performed for religious, cosmetic, and/or hygienic reasons. Circumcision also can alleviate problems that arise from certain medical conditions, such as phimosis, where the foreskin is so narrow that it is difficult, if not impossible, and painful, to pull back. As a medical procedure, circumcision has both health benefits and risks.

Critics of adult circumcision point to its disadvantages, among which include:

temporary pain after the operation (this is true for any surgery)
temporary irritation of the glans (the head of the penis)
different and/or decreased sensation during sex
risk of complications and/or surgical errors (again, as with any surgery)
Also, for what it's worth, health care providers recommend that after circumcision a man abstains from any kind of sexual activity for four to six weeks to allow for a full recovery. In fact, even having an erection in this period of time after the procedure can cause complications, such as discomfort, pain, and disruption of the sutures. Moreover, some men may find arousal, erection, and/or ejaculation to be so uncomfortable that they may not mind the break from sex.

Proponents of adult circumcision advocate it for a number of reasons, including:

cleanliness or ease of maintaining hygiene
slightly reduced risk of getting sexually transmitted infections (STIs), such as human immunodeficiency virus (HIV — the virus that causes AIDS) and human papillomavirus (HPV — the virus that causes genital warts)
Regular cleaning of the foreskin and the glans, however, usually alleviates most potential hygienic problems. Additionally, safer sex techniques are much more effective in preventing STIs than circumcision.

Some critics may also argue that after the surgery, some men may find that their penises just aren't what they used to be, aesthetically speaking. On the other hand, some advocates of circumcision may believe that circumcised penises are better looking. In the end, it comes down to personal preference.

Given the fact that the health benefits of circumcision are negligible or unclear, consulting with a health care provider before deciding to have the procedure done is highly recommended. If circumcision is the final choice, then a person can discuss a variety of topics about the operation (including the amount of foreskin that is removed) with the surgeon, usually a urologist, before the procedure.

The reasons for getting circumcised are usually religious, cleanliness, and that the foreskin cannot be retracted over the head of the penis. If you and your husband do not fall into any of these categories, then the operation is not warranted....because it is only being done for cosmetic purposes, either emotional or physical. I as a man and a physician would not have the procedure unless there was a medically need. I would vote against it in a man who is an adult and who might be resentful that he had the operation when it was not medically necessary.

Personally,, I think you're going to love it. If you've never experienced a trimmed one before, it's a lot better than a long nasty loose wrinkled up smelly foreskin. I made my husband get circumcised and If ever I have any boys, I'm having their foreskins cut off too.
If you do go forward with this, talk to the surgeon or who ever is doing the circ and request that all the foreskin is trimmed off. Since your d/h is an adult his penis is finished growing so there is no need to leave any slack for growth. The tighter or higher the circumcision, the better it will be. It will look and smell so much nicer and cleaner. I hate foreskins.

Its his choice, not yours, and if there is no medical reason for it then why do it? The facts are he will go through considerable pain, he will lose a very sensitive piece of his penis and so deminish pleasure in future, he will lose sensitivity in his glans as it hardens up to compensate for being exposed all the time, he risks painful erections for the rest of his life, he could die (any surgery has risks), he will be no cleaner (assuming he washes now), masturbation will be harder/less pleasurable. The only positive is for you in that a less sesitive more solid penis is likely to give longer and stronger sensations during sex but what sort of a wife would put her husband through so much for her own pleasure?

Circumcising is an unnatural act and one has no rights to opt for it unless it is really needed on medical grounds where there are no options left. In my opinion, it is not advisable for your husband to go for it since he has not done it so far. It is mostly done by Muslim and Islamic population as per their religious belief. The joy of sexual intercourse with outer skin intact will be more pleasurable than without skin. An extra layer of skin is always better for thickness to get more satisfaction.

DO NOT CUT!! As a circumcised male, I feel it is better to be uncut. It gives better pleasure. I have met guys that have been circumcised at an older age and its not a good thing.

My question back to you is WHY is he getting circumcised in the first place? Is it just for the difference during sex? Discuss this with several doctors before surgery. Why do you want this done?

I think it should be a trade off - he gets a circumcision and you get a nipple-ectomy. "I'm a little nervous but really think I want this." YOU want this? Circumcisions were developed by barbarians - it is mutilation, nothing less. It has very little intrinsic medical value, and hubby's penile sensitivity will go right down the toilet. This is a STUPID act.
