No, because if you drink coffee a lot and you use a straw your teeth are less likely to get yellow. Given i don't look quite fashionable doing it but my smile makes up for it :):):)

I would say if you want a drink and through a straw, yes only it is the one drinking that sucks, not the straw. no comment on the rest because we all have been there at one time or another

If this is really all there is to it then you are really making a big deal out of nothing. Your Mother was trying to have fun with her grandchild...which you should be thankful for. One day she won't be here. One day your daughter will be too old to play silly games....but, hey, don't let that stop you from spoiling her fun. Perhaps your Mother remembers you when you were a carefree child and wishes you were not so intense now. Maybe she remembers when silly things used to make you laugh rather than humiliate you...mortify you. Those are pretty strong words. On the other hand, maybe your Mother is just a classless fool...willing to do anything for the laugh of a child. What a horrid person!!! (that's sarcasm, something most stuffed-shirts don't usually comprehend) What should you do? Apologize to your Mother. Learn to laugh again. Or is laughing beneath you???

I don't agree that it sucks. Try drinking beer through a straw and see if you get drunk faster. Worked for me.

I prefer a straw when I'm drinking from a cup that has a lot of ice in it. I hate it when I tip my cup and all the ice comes up to my mouth and hardly any liquid.

I don't mind it so much - except when stupid fast food places like McDonalds give you this giant straws so you finish your drink in like two sips. I know it's their ploy to get us to super-super-size all of our orders, but c'mon. That's when drinking through a straw SUCKS.

Yes, straws do suck. I think it has to do with the vacuum exerted by one's mouth.
