Because I have not heard either one of them say that the Holocaust never happened or that Isreal is near annihilation.

The U.S. did object to India and Pakistan having nuclear weapons. And India and Pakistan actually did have military conflicts with each other in recent times. And I wouldn't be surprised if Pakistani leaders have made some very anti-U.S. and anti-Israel statements in their day, so it's not just a matter of Iran being the only anti-U.S. and anti-Israeli nuclear wanna-be out there.
My guess is that the American policy establishment just doesn't like Iran. The folks that run our military and foreign policies are predominately old, white guys, old enough to remember the Iran hostage crisis & still ticked off about it. The U.S. supported Iraq in lots of ways when Iraq and Iran were fighting each other, and I wouldn't be surprised if we were giving immediate support to dissidents within Iran.
All that aside, at least India and Pakistan have a "mutual assured destruction" deterrent against each other. While Israel has nukes, Israel so far hasn't demonstrated an intent to wipe Iran off the map. If the Iranian leaders are crazy enough to believe that the destruction of Israel is worth killing millions of people, combatants and non-combatants, then the line ought to be drawn in front of Iran & they should be dissuaded from pursuing nuclear weapons by any reasonable means. (I hope and pray that they actually do only have civilian energy generation plans in mind in Iran, but I am not willing to give the benefit of the doubt just yet.)

jonmorritt: your analogy falls apart when the "woman down the street" and the "guy across the street" want to kill each other and have for years and almost have a few times... and you may get hit by crossfire (nuclear fallout) if they start shooting... but yes... I don't want the crazy guys to have the guns either... but to think that these two aren't a threat, is a little silly if you know the history of the two

The US WAS against India and Pakistan, but eventually those countries proved themselves as allies, and hey aren't locked in an historic religious war.
Iran is in a different light. They aren't neccessarily trying to convice the US that they have no ill intention. They have declared enemies, and it is not unreasonable to think they would do whatever it takes to eradicate them.

Let me put it this way:
I don't object to the guy down the street having a gun
I don't object to the woman across the road owning a gun either.
However, I don't want the psycho 2 blocks away, who has already threatened to shoot my neighbor, to own a rifle.
The same logic applies to countries. Some have responsible governments - others are run by fruitcakes.
Understand ?
