NOT DRUG DRUG, BUT MORE OF LIKE A MEDICINE

The human body needs sleep as a form of recharge, like a battery. Developing a drug that will remove the need for sleep might push humans over the edge and increase the number of psychotic breaks that individuals may experience.

Lowering the amount of sleep and still maintaining a level of efficiency would be better, but not an all out elimination of sleeping.

All living creatures need rest. As for humans, our bodies operate on Circadian rhythms. Between the hours of 12 am - 6 am, we will feel sleepy. Sleeps gives your cells the opportunity to regenerate and to divide. It is the orginal energizer. If there was a drug, it will create addicts (like every drug). Imagine the withdrawal effects once a person stops taking it.

Some people misunderstood the question?

You're not looking for something like Amphetamine?

You wonder if it would be good to have something that totally eliminate the need for sleep, without any physical ill effects?

This is your premise?

We all get to have 1/3 more hours, in the day. Only a pessimist, would say no.

No, but I wish someone would make one so that it's easier to wake up in the morning. I once read a scifi book or story by a lady writer named Nancy. In her story, a couple had a child, a girl. They had somehing surgically done to her, so that she would never need sleep. Her sister never understood that, but they got along. Then after her, there were eventually many people who never slept, and someone wanted to eliminate them, or something to they had to become their own government, own community or group, they were banned from where they previously lived. Read it, to understand what I'm saying. Nany Kress is the author.

sleeping releases certain chemicals in our bodies, if we dont sleep. we dont get them. So if you wanted to make that "drug", then you'd have to figure out exactly which chemicals are released, and you'd also have to worry about the long term affect of not sleeping on the body; with or without chemicals. it would skew your internal clock.
