I believe that the best answer to this question has nothing to do with being a pessimistic or an optimistic. The container is half full when you are filling it up halfway, and the container is half empty when you drink or pour out half of it. ;)

It's considered half empty when you're a person he sees the negative sides of things. Half open when you're a person who sees the oppurtunity in things. Like me drinking a half glass of water and thinking I should save it for later is thinking half empty. I think looking at the glass and knowing you have some left and can get some more is looking at it half full.

It is neither half full or half empty. The truth is the container is to large for the volume of liquid it is holding. Get smaller container.

When it contans 50% of a fluid it is considered half full, and half empty.

In reality, unless that fluid is frozen to the bottom of the glass, and the glass is placed in a vacuum, it is not possible to have a glass be half empty. Otherwise, every glass is always completely full, usually with air.

Well for me, if someone has just poured me a half a glass of whatever, then I say it is half full, but if I've just drank half a glass and there's still have left, then I say it's half empty.
