Well for one thing, the DOT is always monitoring traffic patterns, and they actually set up the lights at a particular intersection to change on a timer. And that timer changes at different times of the day. i.e. 5 o' clock rush hour is going to be green longer on the main roads and red longer on the side roads. Then you have the sensors, they automatically change from green to red if so many seconds go by without being tripped. So if the other side is moving faster and all the cars are bunched up, you're gonna wait longer for your light to change. It still sucks when you've got to be somewhere!!!

it all depends on the road wheher that road is traveled by many or a few like where i live there is a street that is heavily travelled and the light takes forever but its because of how many people travel on that road and i also kno one light out by me that is only like a 10 second wiat one way and a 45 second wait the other

Patience... If you are waiting for the red light, you are probably just being cautious... and on the other side i guess they don't know what the yellow light stands for.

cause somehow you dont trip the sensor in the road that tells the light your waiting, or is broken. either way it sucks.
