In capital punishment states shouldn't it be the death sentence. In non-capital punishment states shouldn't it be life in prison? If the anti-liberty groups get their way and abortion is made illegal; abortions will still occur. Will it make the anti-liberty folks rejoice at the killing and jailing for life of all doctors, or back alley hacks who perform abortions and the women who seek them???

Hawk, how do you know this? How many abortions have you had?

Come on Hawk, you can do better than that. You sound like a dove with your psychobabble. Those websites obviously have agendas. I've known quite a few women who've had abortions, including a sister, and they lived happily ever after. Anyway, of course we all hate abortions, but it's about the woman carrying the parasite for 9 months. What gives anyone the right to force that?

Abortion is not murder it is a personal decision, it should be left up to each individual, the government has no business in trying to legislate morality and the people that are against it have no business telling anyone what is right or wrong for them in a moral decision.

If abortion is murder than I agree with the punishments you put in the question. Of course we have yet to establish if abortion is murder in our government law system. It is murder in most religions but the government is supposed to leave religion out of their laws as long as it doesn't interfere with people practicing their religion. (meaning religion can't be used as a reason for the law but the law can't stop the religion from being carried out). However, on abortion you don't absolutely need religion to ban it because there can be a case made on purely secular reasons, anyway. The fetus is alive and no one can argue that it isn't. The only argument is whether it is human and at what time does it become human.

To assist in showing why it makes a difference, I would put up the example of dolphins and tuna. How many groups out there argue that we need dolphin-safe tuna but never really mention the right of the tuna to exist. It is because the dolphin is both cute and intelligent and the tuna isn't. The same is similar in a fetus (not so much cute being a factor but more its intelligence). Kill the fetus and the fetus more than likely hasn't really lost anything because it doesn't really know it is alive (or science currently believes). No worse really than killing a tapeworm that is feeding off your body (which incidentally the fetus does feed off the woman so you could make the case that the woman is protecting herself from a parasite). A very complicated issue to be sure.

And just so everyone knows, I am anti-abortion (but I see the other side as having quite a few valid points.)

I think abortions are wrong. It's killing. I don't even think that for certain reason, like rape, should have abortions allowed. The only legal abortions should be the ones done where a person will die unless they have it done.

Even if someone is raped they shouldn't get a abortion. They could put the child up for adoption. Just because there father is a rapest doesn't bean they deserve the death penaity.

Now, about punshment for an abortion being done. I'm aginst the death penaty. Lucky in my state the death penaity is illegal. I don't think anyone should be put to death for what they do.

In finally, I think abortions should be illegal, unless the mother needs one to live, and even if one is proformed no one should die, I mean, 2 wrongs don't makke a right.

One must keep in mind when thinking of these things that committing an abortion is a punishment in and of itself. It causes great psychological damage to the woman. As such, the greatest punishment, in general, may well be jail time. Having to live with the self-inflicted psychological damage may be a greater punishment than death.

Personally, I'm generally opposed to Capital Punishment, however the idea that is implied by the rhetorical question "why do we kill people who kill people to show people that killing people is wrong?" is flawed because if you apply the same logic to other areas of law, such as theft, you end up being unable to punish criminals. For example, "why do we forcibly take money from people who forcibly take money from people to show people that forcibly taking money from people is wrong?" So in other words, according to this logic, fining thieves, and in fact, anyone, is wrong.

To answer the challenge, have I had an abortion, no I have not. However, according to the vast body of scientific research and personal testimonies from women who have committed abortions, it does. I Googled "abortion hurts women psychological OR psychology research" and got some good results. I've now got three in my sources box, I recommend checking them out.

I believe that abortion is committing murder. I also believe that if it is an appropriate situation, such as where the child was concieved through rape or molestation, it should be allowed. I think that it should be made illegal and there should be a death penalty or life inprisonment. If the baby was concieved through rape or molestation, it should be up to the judge to give it the ok. I still hate people who abort. It is murdering an innocent child. If you don't want the baby, give it up for adoption. If you don't want to get pregnant, either have sex safely or don't have it at all.

Abortion is Primarily done to prevent two things: Firstly, to kill the girl child. Secondly, for fear of illegitimate child.

I think standard stringent laws should be adopted universally. The need of the hour is to instill fear in people about severe penalities. Also reform based penalities should be inflicted like making the culprits to adopt two orphans, taking their responsibilities and bringing them up to make them useful to society and also to prevent them from turnig into a vagabond or a rootless wanderer.

If death penalty could have a effect over a crime...then terrorism would have lost its roots.

Therefore, reform based progress should be adopted together with the pledge taken to kill the sin.

The banning of Abortion's easy to understand if you're a born-again-Christain like Mr Bush, who really believes we will be over-run with Moslems.
Here is the UK, BNP seriously think your average white man/woman will die out completely & the UK will become an Islamic State.
Abortion will just disappear down the back streets, again!

If abortion is murder, why are you only focusing on the women? Those children have a father too.

And yes, I support having the father have a say in the abortion matter too.

Anyone who is really pro-life is against killing anyone. Regardless of the fact of anything they have done (abortion included). Likewise, they are against euthanasia ("mercy killing") or killing of the unborn (euthanasia). We don't need to punish those who have had abortions, we need to help heal them and educate people so they know there are alternatives to abortion.
