People lie. No matter how ridiculous the lie is, somebody will always believe it. Don't dwell on it. If she brags that much about him, then tell her that 4th cousins on her fathers step brother side, twice removed...doesn't count as blood cousins. Besides, who wants a cousin who makes a innocent candy name so provocative and raps about spaceships.
