why dont you just buy a new computer... windows98 is seriously outdated and vulnerable to threats...

come on!!! we are halfway through 2006.... not even the technology from last year could compete w/ the technology of this year!

Unfortunately, there isn't a legal way of downloading Windows 98.

A possible solution for you may be to buy a new copy of Windows 98. Here's one of a few sites I saw with good prices on an OEM cd.

Note: I do not recommend buying ANY Windows cds off Ebay.

Not only is it old, but Microsoft is ending all support for 95,98 and ME as of 1 Oct 2006. No updates, drivers or anything.

Microsoft still owns all the rights to 98. You can be sued by them for putting an illegal copy on her computer. Even after the stop supporting it, they still own the rights.

Not legally. You'd be better off upgrading to a more recent version of Windows, assuming that the machine meets the hardware requirements. Without the original CD, you'll need to buy the full version; an upgrade version will not install without the original CD.

It probably won't affect your computer, but you get caught. However you would A) be stealing and could get caught B)a downloaded version could contain viruses C)98 is selling for cheap enough on ebay, just get one on there.

Don't do that. That would be software piracy and Microsoft would not like it. :-)
