I'm normally a quiet person, but b/c of that I've had people come back to me (once they get to know me) that they believed I was arrogant. Others have outright said that they were scared of me until they got to know me.
I just want to know why is it that b/c you choose not to speak with anyone, others consider you stuck up? Why can't it be they have nothing to say?

Quiet people are not arrogant or stuck up; instead they are the ones that learn the most. When people are being quiet, they have no choice but to listen and to be thinking; this gives those people great knowledge that others sometimes fear.
Regardless of what people think of you, don't change who you are no matter what.

I've always wondered the same thing. I'm a quiet person myself and some people avoid me. I guess it's because they think I'm a b*tch or something. People don't understand there is a difference between a quiet person and a mean person.

When people are shy they don't mingle with everyone at parties. It's the same with stuck up people who feel they are too good to mingle with certain people. Unfortunately, it's hard to tell if a person is just shy or stuck up until you get to know them.
It would help to smile at people and maybe say "hi". Stuck up people don't smile, much less acknowledge anyone they see as beneath them. People used to think this of me also. I was very shy when I was younger. Somehow I out grew my shyness by thinking that everyone feels somewhat self conscious.

maybe the people who assume that only get real quiet when they feel arrogant or something. i can really appreciate being quiet, nothing wrong there :) people make a lot of dumb assumptions like that

Quiet people are usually smart dangerous people who are too smart to open their mouths and reveal their plans. I am really scared of them. They're kinda arrogant too.
